Fratelli Cosulich Liner Agency - MACS

The shipping agency Fratelli Cosulich S.p.A. acquires the representation in Italy of the German shipping company MACS Maritime Carrier Shipping Gmbh & Co based in Hamburg: a family company, founded in 1970, by Felix Scheder-Bieschin.

In 1979 MACS launched a regular multi-purpose service from the United Kingdom and Northern Europe to South Africa, thanks to the use of two ships "Maritime Carrier" and "Durban carrier", the first generation of the MACS fleet of tween-deckers vessels.

Subsequently, thanks to the various acquisitions made, to the renewal of the fleet and collaboration agreements with other companies, MACS expands its business and today is able to provide services for conventional cargo and containers on different routes, in three continents Europe, America and Africa:

  • EUROPE / AFRICA: 6 ships scale the ports of Rotterdam Hamburg, Bremen, Immingham, Antwerp and Leixoes every ten days, continuing on to the African continent towards the ports of Walvis Bay in Namibia, Cape Town in South Africa and Maputo in Mozambique. The rotation proceeds with the touches of Richards Bay and Durban in South Africa and Walvis Bay again. Other Mozambican ports such as Nacala, Pemba and Palma are served in transhipment.
  • GULF USA / AFRICA: the same ports in Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique are connected to the ports of Houston and New Orleans, on a monthly basis, by 4 ships.
  • GULF USA / EUROPE: Thanks to the latest acquisition of the Stinnes company concluded in 2017, MACS also operates a service from the United Kingdom and Northern Europe to the Gulf of Mexico, Veracruz, Altamira and New Orleans.

MACS wants to develop its business in Italy, conventional cargo and containers, with particular attention to the markets of Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique, making use of the commercial and logistic organization of the Fratelli Cosulich shipping agency.

The marketing action will be broad and aimed at all Italian subjects who control goods from Italy and other locations in Europe to / from ports on the African continent taken over by MACS.
